How did my journey at Netier begin? I was friends with a Netier employee at the time, and he asked me if I would like a job at the service desk. I was dissatisfied with my current career, and he identified this and must have seen that I would be a good fit for Netier culture. I was also in the middle of an IT-related degree and looking for an excuse to enter the industry. Looking back, I see it is a very happy coincidence for me! He put me in touch with Jess and HR for an interview, and the rest is history.
What drew you to Netier, and how has it shaped your growth?
Netier’s culture and people are a huge selling point, which I could immediately tell when I was hired. As someone who had relatively no experience when coming in, I have been supported and guided every step of the way. I have been empowered by those around me to learn and grow into the contributor I feel I am today. Everyone at Netier is always willing to take the time to answer your questions and further your growth, and this is what continues to impress and inspire me about my fellow colleagues.
How do your personal passions align with your work at Netier?
Personally, I am happy when I am consistently learning new things. The constant need to adapt in the IT industry is perfect for me, as it means I continue to learn new things and new ways of achieving outcomes. Technology and innovation are at the core of what Netier does – we look for ways to streamline our client’s environments and take care of the complexities of IT to make sure they can focus on their business. There are always new ways to achieve this, and I find it extremely satisfying to see this implemented effectively and see how much of a difference it makes to our clients.
What has been your most fulfilling experience at Netier?
It’s difficult to pick a specific instance, but something that happened recently was a critical vulnerability discovered in one of the brands of Firewalls we use. The vulnerability was fixed in a recent firmware upgrade for these devices, and an urgent notification was sent to us advising us to complete this upgrade immediately. However, due to our team’s efforts, all of our affected devices were already up to date with the latest firmware, meaning we did not have to perform the urgent upgrade, AND our client’s devices were unaffected by the vulnerability. I was able to take immense pride in this moment, as it validated all our hard work in keeping our clients’ infrastructure up to date, and in the process, we were able to protect them from a critical vulnerability at the time of discovery.
How has your role allowed you to grow?
I am constantly learning in my role, which is something I’ve always wanted in a career. The day I come to work, and I’ve seen all the problems before is the day dissatisfaction starts to appear. My role at Netier is constantly throwing unique challenges my way, and I am diving into tasks daily that I’ve never had experience in before. Our product suite is constantly updating and changing, meaning I have to stay on top of these changes in order to fulfil my role requirements. It fosters a love of learning and also grows my experience to valuable levels that will help me my whole career.
What makes the culture at Netier unique?
Netier has this real “we’re in this together” vibe, and it doesn’t matter which team you are in or how high up in the company you are. Everyone is willing and eager to work with everyone else in order to provide our clients with the best outcomes. I believe this teamwork attitude is what makes Netier one of the best MSPs out there, and also what makes it a great place to work. One of the most satisfying experiences is working as a team to get something done, and it brings us all together in a way lots of other workplaces cannot claim.

For me, if you want to break into the IT industry and learn things as quickly as possible, then Netier is the place to be. If you have the attitude of “I don’t know what this is, but I’ll give it a crack” then Netier is the place to be. You are enabled to learn as quickly as possible and prove your worth, and you will be rewarded with more responsibility and growth, which will set you up for success in a career in IT. You will also find a fun work environment that will make you want to stay. 4 years have passed in the blink of an eye and I couldn’t see myself anywhere else right now!
